Conversations

View and manage customer conversations.

The Conversations page shows all chat interactions with your customers.

Viewing Conversations

  1. Go to your chatbot in the Dashboard
  2. Click Conversations in the sidebar
  3. Browse the list of conversations

Conversation List

Each conversation shows:

  • Visitor ID - Anonymous identifier for the visitor
  • Messages - Number of messages exchanged
  • Started - When the conversation began
  • Last activity - Most recent message time
  • Status - Active, resolved, or handed off

Conversation Details

Click a conversation to see:

  • Full message history
  • Citations used in responses
  • Confidence scores for each response
  • Handoff status (if applicable)

Conversation Memory

Grounded remembers returning visitors:

  • Session memory - Context within a single conversation
  • Visitor memory - Facts learned across multiple visits

How It Works

  1. Visitor starts a conversation
  2. Key facts are extracted and stored
  3. On return visits, context is restored
  4. Chatbot remembers preferences and past issues

Visitor memory uses a browser identifier. If the visitor clears cookies or uses a different device, they appear as a new visitor.

Filtering

Filter conversations by:

  • Date range
  • Handoff status
  • Minimum message count
  • Confidence threshold

Exporting Data

Export conversation data for analysis:

  1. Go to Conversations
  2. Apply any desired filters
  3. Click Export
  4. Choose format (CSV or JSON)

Exports include:

  • All messages with timestamps
  • Visitor identifiers (anonymous)
  • Confidence scores
  • Citation references

Privacy

Data Retention

  • Conversations are retained for 1 year
  • Memory facts are retained indefinitely
  • You can delete conversations manually

Visitor Privacy

  • Visitors are identified by anonymous IDs
  • No personal information is collected by default
  • IP addresses are not stored

Deleting Data

To delete a conversation:

  1. Open the conversation
  2. Click the menu (three dots)
  3. Select Delete conversation
  4. Confirm deletion

Deleted conversations cannot be recovered. Associated memory facts are also removed.
